Elections Etc on Substack
It’s been 12 years since I started blogging about elections under the title Elections Etc. Initially that was on blogspot. Then Jonathan Jones kindly set up ElectionsEtc.com for me. Now I see lots of good people writing on Substack. I like various features Substack has, including the audio.
So as the 2024 general election campaign kicks off I’m going to post things on both ElectionsEtc.com and here on Substack. Hopefully that will make things more convenient for people already interested in my work, and reach others interested in elections and public opinion.
For those that don’t know me, I’m a Professor of Political Sociology at the University of Oxford and a Fellow and Tutor in Politics at Trinity College. I’ve been part of the BBC election night results and analysis team since 1997. The usual disclaimer applies. Views I post here will be my own, or those of any guest authors, and not those of my employers.
Good luck to all those working on the general election in various capacities. Let’s hope the campaign is a decently-conducted and enlightening exercise in democratic deliberation and decision making.
